Best spots & things to do when sightseeing tenerife

September 10th, 2010

Take a look at our video of the best spots for sightseeing in Tenerife.  The video was made by some friends at Eden Discovery, and I narrated the video.  We all took part in electing the best places to see.  At the end of the video you can see their boat for the whale watching tours. I strongly recommend trying one of those tours. Tenerife is one of just 3 places in the world where is a resident colony of short finned pilot whales. It’s a beautiful experience to watch this marvelous sea mammals free in the wild.

If you would like to see some other videos of places to visit, we have the biggest video store of Attractions, all commentated by myself to introduce you to Tenerife visually.  Please take a look at this website if you prefer to watch than read;  http:www.attractionsreporter.com.

How much money should I take to Tenerife?

March 2nd, 2010

billetesI was like having a look on Tenerife forums and a common question that pops up is “How much money should I take to Tenerife?”

I guess the answer will vary if you are a budget-tight student or a wealthy business man, so instead of giving a recommend budget right away, I’ll tell you before about the standard prices so you can figure out yourself how much money to take depending on the number of days, people travelling, and things you like to do.

Breakfast + drink 5€

Snack + drink 8€

Evening meal 7€ to 12€ depending what you choose. These are average prices and you would pay more if you choose more upmarket restaurants and of course your evening drinks have to be added to this quote.

Drink prices – They vary a lot in price depending where you go. In a bar the standard price is about 1.50€ for a beer, and then discos charge you 3-6€ for a bottle of beer.

Car hire: 20€/day (5 seats car) – strongly recommended. Best way of sightseeing Tenerife.

Excursions: 25€ average per person, depending on what you do.  You can have boat trips to see whales and dolphins from 20€, Siam Park 28€, Loroparque 31€. Camel Park 20€, Karting 22€, monkey park 10€, Castillo San Miguel 42€, etc.

I read in some forums and after paying flight ticket and accommodation, people bring around 70€ per day per person. That seems fine to me since some days your are going to spend more than that, and others you will stay all day relaxing in the hotel or beach, spending less money, so that could be a good average. Anyway, as I said before, perhaps you are one of those who pay 1000€/night to stay at Bahia del Duque 5 stars hotel. But for the rest of mortals, 70€/day should be good.

A note for those who enjoy partying at night clubs: watch out your budget because the discos close very late in Tenerife and you may end up spending a big chunk of your budget in just one night!.

Check out my summary of the best places you can go for free in the Tenerife. I tried to cover all tastes!

Los Gigantes, Tenerife map

“Los Gigantes” means “the Giants” in English. They are a set of impressive cliffs, really quite remarkable. I love that place!

Rambla General Franco (Santa Cruz de Tenerife) map

This is a historic walking area, in the capital of the island, with lots of resident people but rarely visited by tourists.

Las Veronicas (Playa de las Americas) map

This is the most popular area where tourist go for clubbing, partying and drinking. Almost everybody speaks English there. Not many locals

Paseo Las vistas, Los Cristianos map

Many pubs here but most of them are with Latin salsa music. Not so many tourists go there for clubbing, even when is just 3 min taxi from Las Veronicas. You can see the sea from most of the clubs, and during the day is also a nice place to go for a swim and taking sun.

Plaza del Charco, Puerto de la Cruz map

A beautiful plaza lined with restaurants and cafes.

Playa de la Arena, Tenerife map

Playa de la Arena is a very nice beach, not far away from Los Gigantes. Worth having a visit, especially if you have a car to get around.  It’s quiets, with tourists, but keeping a nice balance with lot of local people living there as well.

Puerto Colon, Las Americas map

This is the marina with most variety of boat trips, jet ski, diving, etc. It also happen to be a very beautiful place, although you might get a bit annoyed by people on the street trying you sell you stuff. If you plan to do a tour I suggest buying things online when possible to avoid that.

Sightseeing Tenerife: tips for making your holidays amazing!

February 12th, 2010

Hello Natalia here,

This is my first post so I’ll start just mentioning the things I plan to cover on this sightseeing tenerife blog.

One thing I’ll definetly going to talk about is “El Teide“, which is the highest mountain of Spain. Is one of the most popular attractions in Tenerife, and definetly worth seeing, although is not the best attraction in my opinion. I admit, I’m not a mountain girl… I love the the sea and the beaches!

If you are going for holidays to Tenerife would be good to know which are the most popular areas. Chances are that if you travel to Tenerife, you will staying in a hotel in Torviscas, Playa de las Americas, Puerto de la Cruz or Los Gigantes. I’ll tell you what are the advantages for each place and if you haven’t booked your accommodation yet I might help you decide the area in which you could stay.

I also may talk about the parks (or parque in spanish) because they are very good. Among the best in Europe… Does it ring the bell the Siam Park or the Loropaque?

And of course, I will tell you which are the best sightseeing places in Tenerife. Stay tuned .
